Directions & notes How to take the product.

Recommended dosage

Melinava Liposomal Astaxanthin Extract provides 8 mg of pure astaxanthin per capsule in a liposomal formulation (400 mg liposomal complex in total per daily dose).

Take 1 capsule daily with plenty of water. For best results, we recommend taking it regularly for at least 6 weeks.

Tip if you have difficulty swallowing

Place the capsule in your mouth with plenty of water and tilt your head forward (towards your chest). This makes swallowing much easier. Alternatively, you can empty the contents of the capsule into a glass of water and drink it.

Note

Food supplements should not be used as a substitute for a balanced diet. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. Store in a cool, dry place out of reach of children.

Contraindications

Not suitable for infants, children and adolescents under 14. Not suitable for pregnant or breastfeeding women.

Do not take with other food supplements containing astaxanthin on the same day.

If you are taking prescription medication, we recommend consulting a healthcare professional before use. Not recommended if you have a known allergy to carotenoids or algae products.

Liposomes – the special technology

Our liposomal technology changes the way nutrients are absorbed by the body.

Thanks to their special structure, liposomes encase the active ingredients they contain and protect them from being broken down in the digestive tract.

This allows nutrients to be transported to where they are needed – right into the cells.

The result is increased bioavailability: a larger proportion of the active ingredient reaches the bloodstream unchanged and is actually available to the body.

Less loss, better absorption, more efficient use.

Every batch lab-tested

The red gold of the seas.

Astaxanthin is the bright red pigment that gives salmon, crabs and flamingos their characteristic colour. Behind this vivid colour lies one of the most extensively researched natural carotenoids.

Astaxanthin is obtained from the microalga Haematococcus pluvialis, a freshwater alga that produces the characteristic red pigment under extreme environmental conditions in nature and is one of the richest natural sources of astaxanthin in the world.

As astaxanthin is fat-soluble, our capsules deliver this exceptional plant compound in a high-quality liposomal form. This means you can take it without needing a fatty meal.

Targeted, natural, effective.

Products that make a difference.

Safe & uncompromising.

Our products are regularly put through their paces. Every single batch is carefully checked by independent laboratories to ensure that only the best finds its way to you. Our products are developed with dedication in Europe and manufactured in state-of-the-art production facilities.

Only what really counts.

Every ingredient matters to us. Each one is carefully selected and tested, and comes from controlled cultivation. Our formulations contain premium active ingredients in pure form and phospholipids from European sunflowers.

Absolutely nothing to hide.

We pay careful attention not only to which ingredients make it into our formula, but also to which ones stay out: GMO-free, no allergens, no artificial additives, soya-, gluten- and lactose-free.

How astaxanthin works. What the plant reveals about the molecule.

Carotenoids are among the “secondary plant compounds”, a large group of natural pigments found in plants, algae and some microorganisms. More than 600 different carotenoids are known in nature. Astaxanthin is one of the most remarkable of them.

One of the richest sources of astaxanthin is the red microalga Haematococcus pluvialis. It produces astaxanthin specifically when exposed to extreme environmental conditions: intense sunlight, UV radiation, heat, cold or nutrient deficiency. The red pigment is the alga's natural response to these stresses and the reason why Haematococcus pluvialis is considered the richest natural source of astaxanthin in the world.

What is astaxanthin good for?

Astaxanthin is one of the plant compounds that the human body cannot produce itself. A balanced diet should therefore be the basis for getting enough natural carotenoids.

In nature, astaxanthin reaches animals mainly through the marine and freshwater food chain: krill and tiny crustaceans take it in from algae, and salmon, lobsters and flamingos in turn from these crustaceans. This is exactly what gives them their characteristic colour. Astaxanthin is therefore traditionally considered a key component of seafood-based diets such as Japanese or Scandinavian cuisine.

With Melinava Liposomal Astaxanthin Extract, you get this carotenoid with a rich tradition in a pure, highly concentrated and liposomally protected form, as a deliberate addition to a balanced diet.

Questions and answers.

Astaxanthin is a natural red carotenoid found in certain microalgae such as Haematococcus pluvialis. It is also found in salmon, crustaceans and flamingos, where it is responsible for their characteristic colouring. It is one of the most remarkable of the more than 600 known natural carotenoids.

Astaxanthin is a fat-soluble carotenoid from the microalga Haematococcus pluvialis. Many people choose to add it to their diet, particularly as part of:

  • An active lifestyle with plenty of exercise
  • A mindful approach to beauty and longevity
  • Coping with increased physical demands from sport or outdoor activities
  • A targeted intake of natural carotenoids from the age of 40
  • Supporting a general sense of wellbeing every day

The advantage of liposomal formulations is that they offer higher bioavailability than conventional food supplements. Astaxanthin is fat-soluble, which means the body can only absorb it together with fat. Taking it with a meal containing fat is therefore essential. In everyday life, however, this cannot always be guaranteed, which is why Melinava uses a liposomal formulation. Liposomal astaxanthin comes with its own fat structure. The active ingredient is already packaged in a way the body can absorb – whether on an empty stomach, after a light breakfast or in between meals.

Melinava Liposomal Astaxanthin Extract should ideally be stored in a cool (below 25°C), dry place away from light.

Yes! It contains no animal components or ingredients whatsoever, so it is perfectly suitable for vegans and vegetarians.

Experiences with food supplements vary from person to person, depending on factors such as age, diet, lifestyle and dosage. Many users report an improved sense of general wellbeing after several weeks of regular use. To maintain your astaxanthin intake over the long term, we recommend taking it continuously for at least 4–8 weeks.

Within the recommended dosage, astaxanthin is well tolerated by adults and can also be taken over longer periods. The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) recommends a daily intake of up to 8 mg of astaxanthin from Haematococcus pluvialis for adults.

Not suitable for infants, children and adolescents under 14 or for pregnant and breastfeeding women. The product should not be taken on the same day as other food supplements containing astaxanthin.

If you are taking prescription medication, we recommend consulting a healthcare professional before use.
