Directions & notes How to take the product.

Recommended dosage

Melinava Liposomal Berberine Extract provides 135 mg of barberry root extract per capsule in a 450 mg liposomal complex.

Take 1 capsule daily with plenty of water. For best results, we recommend taking it in the morning or at midday, and taking it regularly for at least 12 weeks.

Tip if you have difficulty swallowing

Place the capsule in your mouth with plenty of water and tilt your head forward (towards your chest). This makes swallowing much easier. Alternatively, you can empty the contents of the capsule into a glass of water and drink it.

Note

Food supplements should not be used as a substitute for a balanced diet. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. Store in a cool, dry place out of the reach of children.

Contraindications

Not suitable for infants, children and adolescents. Not suitable for pregnant or breastfeeding women.

Important: Berberine can affect the metabolism of certain medicines. If you take prescription medication on a long-term basis, please consult a healthcare professional before use.

Not recommended in cases of known allergy to Berberis species or other berberine-containing plants.

Liposomes – the special technology

Our liposomal technology changes the way nutrients are absorbed by the body.

Thanks to their special structure, liposomes encase the active ingredients they contain and protect them from being broken down in the digestive tract.

This allows nutrients to be transported to where they are needed – right into the cells.

The result is increased bioavailability: a larger proportion of the active ingredient reaches the bloodstream unchanged and is actually available to the body.

Less loss, better absorption, more efficient use.

Golden-yellow power, treasured for millennia.

Berberine is an intensely yellow plant alkaloid that has played a special role in Asian herbal traditions for thousands of years. It is obtained from the roots and bark of plants such as barberry, goldthread and turmeric.

Berberine is one of the most intensively researched natural plant compounds in modern science. In recent years alone, the number of scientific publications on this alkaloid has multiplied.

Melinava supplies berberine in a liposomal formulation. This is because studies show that the oral bioavailability of conventional berberine is only around 0.36% overall (Liu et al., 2010). Most of it is broken down in the digestive tract before it reaches the bloodstream. This is exactly where the liposomal shell comes in: it is a proven way of reducing this loss. This means that a smaller amount of liposomal berberine can achieve more than significantly larger amounts in conventional form.

Targeted, natural, effective.

Products that make a difference.

Safe & uncompromising.

Our products are regularly put through their paces. Every single batch is carefully checked by independent laboratories to ensure that only the best finds its way to you. Our products are developed with dedication in Europe and manufactured in state-of-the-art production facilities.

Only what really counts.

Every ingredient matters to us. Each one is carefully selected and tested, and comes from controlled cultivation. Our formulations contain premium active ingredients in pure form and phospholipids from European sunflowers.

Absolutely nothing to hide.

We pay careful attention not only to which ingredients make it into our formula, but also to which ones stay out: GMO-free, no allergens, no artificial additives, soya-, gluten- and lactose-free.

A plant compound where tradition meets science.

For thousands of years, berberine has been part of traditional Chinese herbal medicine and India’s Ayurvedic teaching, two of the oldest documented schools of knowledge about plant-based nutrients in the world. Over many generations, this knowledge has been passed down, expanded and refined.

Only much later did berberine also become a focus of modern science. Today, it is one of the natural substances that receive particular attention in international research: while only a handful of scientific papers on berberine were published in 2000, several hundred now appear every year.

As a bioactive plant alkaloid, berberine thus combines thousands of years of tradition with the latest findings from modern plant research.

Rooted in Asia's herbal traditions.

In traditional Chinese herbal medicine, berberine has been documented as “Huang Lian” for over 2,000 years, obtained from goldthread (Coptis chinensis) and described in classical writings on Chinese natural medicine. In India's Ayurvedic tradition, Indian barberry (Berberis aristata), known there as “Daruharidra”, plays a similarly central role.

Both traditions independently recognised the value of this bright yellow plant alkaloid long before modern chemistry gave it a name. Today, berberine is one of the best-documented examples of how traditional plant knowledge and modern research enrich each other.

Questions and answers.

Berberine is a bioactive plant alkaloid found mainly in the roots, bark and stems of plants such as barberry (Berberis vulgaris, Berberis aristata), goldthread (Coptis chinensis) and goldenseal. It is characterised by its intense yellow colour and has been valued for centuries in traditional Chinese and Ayurvedic herbal medicine.

Berberine is a bioactive plant alkaloid that has held a special place in traditional Chinese and Ayurvedic herbal lore for thousands of years. Many people choose to add it to their diet, particularly as part of:

  • An active and balanced lifestyle
  • A mindful approach to longevity and vitality
  • A routine that integrates traditional plant compounds into everyday life
  • Supporting general wellbeing in the spirit of holistic plant traditions

Liposomal formulations have the advantage of higher bioavailability than conventional food supplements. With berberine, this advantage is particularly significant: studies put the oral bioavailability of conventional berberine at just 0.36% (Liu et al., 2010). The body breaks down berberine rapidly in the gut, so only a very small proportion actually reaches the bloodstream.

The liposomal shell encloses the berberine in a protective phospholipid layer, carrying the active ingredient through the digestive tract far more efficiently. Liposomes maximise the absorption of berberine, so a smaller amount in liposomal form can achieve more than considerably larger amounts in conventional form.

Melinava Liposomal Berberine Extract should preferably be stored in a cool (below 25°C), dry place, protected from light.

Yes! It contains no animal components or ingredients whatsoever, so it is perfectly suitable for vegans and vegetarians.

Experiences with food supplements vary from person to person and depend on factors such as age, lifestyle, diet and dosage. Many users report an increase in general wellbeing after several weeks of regular use. To support an active lifestyle in the long term, continuous use for at least 8 to 12 weeks is recommended.

Within the recommended dosage, berberine is well tolerated by adults and can also be taken regularly over longer periods.

Not suitable for infants, children and adolescents or for pregnant and breastfeeding women.

Important: berberine can affect the metabolism of certain medicines. If you take prescription medication on a long-term basis, please consult a healthcare professional before use.
